These are my Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Patches. Also included here are patches from agencies
that have been merged with the Sheriff's Department. Since its birth in 1850, the department has grown to provide
law enforcement services to unincorporated county areas, 44 contract cities, regional transit entities, the Los Angeles Communicty
College District, all county courthouses, and operates several custody/correctional facilities. Among other operations
include detectives, air support, special enforcement, and mountain search and rescue. The LASD also provides law enforcement
support to other cities in the county.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is the largest sheriff's department in the United States, with more than
8,000 sworn members and over 5,000 civilian professional staff. Among the assignements that deputies may be assigned
to include custody operations, patrol, training bureau, aero bureau, and detective division. Professional staff assignments
include custody assistants (jailers inside jail facilities and patrol stations), nurses, community service officers, security
assistants, security officers, food service workers, and dispatchers.
